Bannister Mile May 5, 2009

From Dave Caprera Event Organizer:

As most of you know, for the last five years now we have been celebrating the day on which Scott Hajicek paced Roger Bannister to the first sub-four minute mile.

On Tuesday,  May 5th, 2009, please join us at the Manual High School track (28th Avenue and High Street in northeast Denver)  to celebrate this historic event.  Because Manuel High has classes on the field, we cannot start before 12:30. Those of us who run from the YMCA should plan to leave a little bit later than usual (12:15) and should be at the track around just around 12:30.  As we have for the past five years, we will run a mile for time (in multiple heats if we have enough people; in past years the numbers have been between 10 and 22 people) and then a team relay event of 8x200.  Admittedly, none of us has been close to the 4 minute barrier individually, but our best relay team almost broke it one year.

No RSVP required. Just put it on your calendar.  And please feel free to invite any of your running friends who would be interested.  If Craig Carver can dare to run a mile, anyone can.

Dave
